One of the standout features of this design is the use of black and white curved columns in the entrance, symbolizing the "harmony of mountain and water." In Chinese culture, black represents the mountain, while white represents water, akin to the Yin and Yang concept. The black mountain column is crafted from wood and painted with black bronze lacquer, while the white column features a wave gradient with lighting strips, creating a mesmerizing water-like effect.
The ceiling of the residence is equally captivating, with two circles formed into an eight-character shape. One circle is adorned with twelve lights, representing the four seasons of the year, while the other circle features eight lights, symbolizing fortune. These intricate details add depth and meaning to the overall design.
The designer's focus was on creating a comfortable and elegant atmosphere. In the public areas, dark colors are used, complemented by the luster of stone and metal, resulting in a tasteful and sophisticated ambiance. The private areas, on the other hand, are designed to reflect the clients' favorite styles. The man's side exudes a European classical vibe with brown and gray tones, classical molding, and a cozy bedroom. The woman's side is painted in mint green and features a sliding door where paintings can be collected, evoking a sense of being in a European palace.
Technical specifications of the project include a 214-square-meter, 25-year-old house on the 7th floor, with two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and an audio-visual room. The location is particularly noteworthy, as the window view overlooks the National Palace Museum, providing a stunning backdrop for the residence. Natural building materials, such as the mountain wall in the living room and limestone in the dining room, further enhance the connection to nature.
The design interaction in this residence is carefully crafted to suit the clients' preferences. Color blocks and volatile curves are used throughout the space to create a unique visual experience. The curved TV wall, for instance, separates the audio-visual room from the living room, enhancing the theme and improving the audio effect. The chamfered and cut glass on the curved wall adds a touch of elegance and reflects light, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Wave-like designs, such as water-ripple wood flooring and wave-like cabinets, further symbolize the element of water.
This magnificent residence was completed in April 2021 in Taiwan. The design process involved a combination of classical European style, oriental landscape imagery, and the clients' memories from the Middle East. The golden mountain imagery on the living room wall echoes the view of the National Palace Museum surrounded by mountains outside the window, while the curved TV wall with diamond-cut glass adds brightness and elegance.
Despite the challenges posed by the 25-year-old building and its low ceiling height, the designer successfully installed 14 air conditioners, lighting, built-in audio, and fire sprinklers, meeting the clients' requirements while adhering to strict restrictions. The result is a ceiling design that not only satisfies the clients but also complements the overall aesthetic.
This design is a true testament to the designer's ability to blend different styles and inspirations seamlessly. From the desert textures in the dining room and kitchen, reminiscent of the Middle East, to the limestone wall with its concave and convex pattern resembling a desert landscape, every detail tells a story. The curves of the cabinets symbolize the joy of travel, and the metal palm doors evoke vivid memories. The dining room lighting, with its irregular circles, mimics the glow of the blazing sun in the desert.
The Magnificent Scenery residence is a testament to the power of design to create a space that not only reflects the clients' preferences but also brings their dreams to life. It is a harmonious blend of classical elegance, wanderlust, and blessings, resulting in a truly unique and captivating home.
